On March 29, 2024, SBK hosted an insightful and hands-on fire safety training session for its employees. We invited Zhu Jian, an expert instructor from the Chengdu Limin Fire Safety Promotion Center, to lead the training, followed by a practical safety drill. Over 30 employees from various departments participated, with full attendance from the laboratory technical team.
“Can office power strips be placed directly on the floor or desk?” “Can wet towels be used to block smoke during a fire?” “What should you do while awaiting rescue?” “How should you handle chemical burns?”... Instructor Zhu Jian used real-life case studies to clarify these concerns, offering a deep dive into fire safety regulations, policies, and practical skills. He emphasized the importance of fire prevention, key firefighting and evacuation techniques, and proper use of firefighting equipment.
“Power strips should be placed at least 20 cm above the ground, facing outward and hung up”. “In the event of a fire, special anti-smoke masks should be used”. “While awaiting rescue, take self-rescue measures, like using fire extinguishers, gas masks, and fire blankets properly”. The training also took into account the specific needs and hazards of our work environment. Focus was placed on fire safety precautions that are directly relevant to our operations, ensuring that each employee is well-prepared and composed in an emergency.
The fire safety drill, which included fire alarms, initial fire suppression, and multi-floor evacuation procedures, was led by Dr. Cen Guodong, SBK’s General Manager, as the Chief Commander. Xiong Zhihua, Deputy General Manager of CMC, served as the Deputy Commander, with Chen Xumei, Director of Administration and HR, and Zhang Yuliang, Production Manager, organizing and overseeing the practical exercises. By forming a dedicated emergency task force with clearly defined roles, we ensured the drill ran smoothly and efficiently.
When the fire alarm sounded in the synthetic laboratory, employees quickly evacuated from each floor in an orderly manner, following pre-designated routes. During the evacuation, everyone adhered to fire safety regulations, maintained composure, and exited through emergency exits, making their way to the designated “safe zone” with precision.
All company teams—evacuation, security, emergency rescue, and medical aid—gathered promptly upon receiving instructions, showcasing excellent coordination. The drill lasted 6 minutes and 13 seconds in total, with the evacuation portion completed in just 1 minute and 1 second, meeting all planned objectives.
The successful completion of this fire drill significantly boosted employees’ awareness of fire safety and enhanced their self-rescue and mutual aid capabilities in emergencies. It also reflects our company’s unwavering commitment to safety and our people-first values. SBK will continue to prioritize the safety theme of “Everyone Promotes Safety, Everyone Can Respond”. We will focus on prevention, constantly refine our fire safety measures, and work toward building a secure and harmonious workplace for all employees.
